I was talking about the 2N3055.
Allison, one of these days you are going to get me started on insults and
you know what ? I am a world class master at it.
And you didn't even get the fucking joke. At -40 the gain curves of the
2N3055 and MJ2955 are about the closest ever. The joke was that I didn't
know if it was Celsius or Farenheit.
OK it specifies at -55 but I don't care, look at them. Can you visualise a
line between the lines ?

FYI: the published curves are derived from sub millisecond pulse testing at
a few spots and then interpolating.
Plus the gain curve shape is NOT the measure of complementary behaviour
anyhow.
The 2N3055 and MJ2955 were never good complements.
OTOH the MJE3055 and MJE2955 were.

seem several old audio amplifiers schematics with 2n3055s
in a darlington and a compound pair kinda complementary
IMO this transistor is not the bipolar grail. The ratings are just not that impressive. There has got to be something out there that would make retrofitting a driver to make a Darlington unnecessary.
