1500 W electric heater control

I've got a 110V, 1500 W immersion heater (similar to the kind used in
electric water heaters).

I'd like to control it a little more precisely than simply switching
it on/off every 30 seconds.

Is this a good application for a triac?

Thanks,

Michael

A resistive load, sure sounds like it.

you guess it right a TRIAC for a purely resistive load such as a heater you might find easily at home depot . the thing that bother me is usualy heaters have temp control as opposed to dimmers. that makes is also safer too
