12v to 24v absolute beginner

I want to construct an in car 12v source to a 24v nicad battery (lead acid would be nice option.
This would be used to charge a wheelchair in transit.
I see on line i can buy a a 12v to 24v module, i am assuming i just cant connect the two.
If anyone can suggest a circuit i would be very grateful.

Depends on what your capabilities are, but if the normal charger for the chair is transportable, one of the neatest solutions might be an inverter in the car and just use a standard chair charger. That way you know the chair is being treated well.

1 was hoping to go 12v to 24v to chair.
12v to 24v modules are really cheap and i was hoping to come up with a cost effective solution using one

What are the specs on the chairs original power supply? Or is it a charger too?
I repaired one two years ago and the supply pack was huge. I can't remember any of the specs.
The 12v to 24v step up power supply converter may not be sufficient.

It has a Polymer Li-ion Battery
24v 4amp (96 Wh)
Idea is to keep it topped up.
Supplied Charger is 100-240VAC
DC out +24v 2amp

Yes invertor might be the easiest way, but I like rhe idea of making something that will do the trick

A general-purpose 24V supply doesn't have a high enough voltage to fully charge a 24V battery, nor does it have the necessary features to charge the battery safely. Li-ion batteries need a special charging profile to avoid the risk of fire or explosion ( see here ).

As other contributors have suggested, an invertor that gives you mains voltage with your wheelchair charger plugged into it would be the preferable option.
Unless you know precisely what you are doing when charging lipo batteries then leave well alone, If they are not subject to a proper charge regime, they can burst into flames. If they do so, they can be very difficult to extinguish. I don't think you would like a situation like that to arise if you are transporting a disabled person at the same time.
