And now something weird

We in the colonies are having a hard time understanding people speaking on the BBC.
Sometimes I wonder if I need closed-captioning to understand what some Brits are saying.
A couple years ago I was trying to figure out why a guy from the UK kept talking about a problem with the bonnet
on his Jaguar. I'm just glad I have a rewind function on my video machine so I can make repeated translation attempts,
when someone says something I think is/was important.
I'm staying inside at home this week, as Tucson, Arizona weather will be 113 to 115 Degrees F (NOT Celsius for you original
English-speaking natives, as 46.1 degrees would be cause for me to break out my thermal underwear). Or do you spell Celsius
differently too? If I HAD a basement, I'd be trying to cool-off down there, under my FIST FLOOR house.
If a British first floor is on the second floor, do you guys even HAVE a basement?
I thought 'down-under' was supposed to be Australia.
… maybe the heat is getting to me.
