zebra strip to metal lead lcd

I have a device that has an lcd. The lcd used a zebra strip to connect to the PCB, but the zebra strip is broke . I have a lcd that is the same as my zebra strip but uses a metal lead connection. Is there a way to connect the metal lead to the same spot as the zebra strip was and how would I do this

Connect to pc board pins underneath perhaps...???

How did you determine the replacement is the same as the original..??

How would I figure out which pin connects to where.

they have the same amount of pins and the same display.

which means nothing

you would need to get the datasheet for each display and compare the pin-outs

they may be the same, they may be totally different

Why not replace the strip?.
Here you can read all about them. Ebay has quite a few. Just check the length height and PCB pin spacing.
