WTB: Sony VPH-1031 CRT Projector parts

F

Fred Mau

Anybody out there parting out an Sony VPH-1031 CRT Projector ? I need a set
of lenses. Contact me here or offline.

Or, recomendations of a good parts supplier would be appreciated.

I just picked up a VPH1031 for next to nothing, surplus from the local
school board. So far, it appears that the ONLY thing wrong with it is that
somebody swiped the front glass elements from each of the three lenses. The
CRTs themselves seem to be nice and strong and sharp.

Thanks.

Fred,

What lenses does it use? If this is a projector with 5" sony CRT
(SD-137 or SD-187 series, as I recall) then there are many projectors
that used that tube and lens combo. Some of the lenses will have a
label on the side stating the manufacturer and type. You might want to
repost with this info.

Yes, it uses SD-187 CRTs. Front ring of the lens says "Sony HACC/HD-6 Lens
1.0/135mm High Resolution Aspheric".

One idea I'd toyed with for the VPH-1031, is "borrowing" the lenses from my
other projector, a slightly older but similar VPH-1022 which has SD-130 CRTs
and "Delta II DT-AC" lenses which appear similar but not quite exactly the
same. Any recomendations ? On all these similar-sized projectors, does One
Lens = Another Lens except for perhaps merely cosmetic differences ? Or do I
need to get EXACTLY the right part # lens ?

Thanks.

I might have a set for a 1020. If they'll fit, well we need too find out,

Unfortunately I'm going out for the entire weekend. I'll look Monday and get
the numbers and dimensions.

These lenses have Scheimflung (center/corner focus) adjustments on them so as
long as they're about the right size they should work.

Fred,

The Delta II lenses will interchange with the HD-6. As I recall, the
HD-6 have some glass elements, and have better resolution than the Delta
II lenses. As I recall there was also a series called TAC-3 which were
the worst of the lot. Barco also offered Noritar all glass lenses, a
rather expensive option.

Be careful, as some models of these lenses were offered in different
focal lengths, which will affect the throw distance from the projector
to the screen. (or alternately, the size of the image if you don't move
the projector.) Also, some of these lenses might be 'faster' (allow
more light to pass through) which will give you more light on the
screen, for a brighter picture. The smaller the "F" number the better.

No hurry, I'll be out from Sunday until the 23rd.

Yes, these are DELTA II DT-AC lenses.

Repost when you get back if you want them. I'll be reasonable.

BTW, need anything for the 1022 ? I got a 1020 that's getting thinner and
thinner.

Let me know here and I'll open my email to you.
