Researchers in Japan have smashed the record for wireless data transmission in the terahertz band, an uncharted part of the electro-magnetic spectrum.

Yeah but.... is it really going to be that useful? lol, NFC replacement sure... but that's worrying to think that 1 day, all your data could be copied as you walked past.

Well 10m coverage may be useful in coffee shops and internet cafe's. Maybe with a combination of microcells they could help spread wifi through the streets.

What caught my eye was them mentioning that it's not as damaging as x-rays, well how much less are they talking about? People are already fighting the radio waves emitted from your cellphone as you speak and there has even been studies on cellphones in the pockets of males causing a decrease of sperm count. I'm sure once this device is even thought of being implemented into cellphones and headsets the regulatory hammer will come crashing down
