Wireless Alarm system with 2 way telephone communication

B

Brit-Tech.PLC

I am looking for an alarm system for my elderly parents and I want to have
the ability to have them send me an alarm if they are in trouble and I want
to be able to dial in and listen for problems via a speakerphone. The
systems I have found so far are the Ademco Lynx, Simon 3 and the Visonic
Powermax.

Is anyone familiar with these systems and do you have a preference?

Thanks

Any system that's going to establish "two way voice" is going to require the
specialized receiver equipment. None of the systems you've listed are
"voice" capable.

Uh no Frank, all three are will send pagers, all except the Lynx will send
voice alarms. all but the Lynx will allow 2-way voice via remote access

Knew that.

I understood "two-way voice" to mean the same thing as the service
Alarm-Farce provides here in Canada. That requires both their equipment and
a special CS receiver. By "remote access" do you mean when the panel's
actually *in alarm*, or if you call in to find out "status"??

The Lxnx will do 2 way voice to a central station when module is installed
in it but you have to have recieveing equiptment

Did you base this statement on experience with these systems???

You can choose any panel that has a pager option, in conjunction with an
Eagle two-way board, you can put it on any manufacturers control panel and
have two-way voice, and hands free two way communication.

You don't need a Central Station

Any standard receiver will provide 2-way voice, been that way for years

Status, at least thats what he appears to want, he could get the Lynx and
set 2-way voice to callback mode, panel sends the voice alarm or page and he
can then dial into it and go 2-way

I'm wrong on that, the rev 11 and 12 Lynx will send voice alarms

Olson knew that too. He was just testing you. :^)

That's essentially what I want to do. Have the system page me when the alarm
is triggered by a remote fob and then I can dial in an establish two way via
the speakerphone because I am assuming that if I am paged then there is an
emergency where they cannot get to the phone. All three systems will do this
I am just asking for a recommendation on whether to buy the Visonic
Powermax, Simon 3 or the Ademco Lynx.

Thanks

Nope. Read the manuals. You'll notice that Mark mentions *any* CS receiver
is capable of doing that when the panel calls in an alarm. I did state to
the OP that you will need special equipment to establish two way voice *on
an alarm*. However, if he's going to be calling back after the initial
page, the only hinderance would be if the panel decided to call out
additional zone trips. He'd get a busy signal while the system's trying to
communicate with his pager.

I've never installed a Lynx, Simon 3 or Visonic Powermax. None of these
panels are common to my particular "market".

How about as telephone with a hands-free speakerphone they can activate with
a portable pendant? Dials tel numbers (cells or landlines) and announces
trouble. You punch a number to listen-in. Drop me a line at
[email protected] mentionning emergency telephone.

Use the Simon 3 since the Lynx can't do remote 2-way by user

I have a Infinite alarm system from Elite Security http://www.espuk.com/
With this system you have the opertunity to listen and talk to a person
standing next to the central

An oppertunity is the Powermax+

Bets regards

The Eagle unit is stand alone. You don't need a Central Station (Receiver)
capable of grabbing the line after kiss-off. The alarm trips and the board
goes into a holding pattern for the next incoming call. Once it
answers....two-way communication, hands free VOX.
If you have a system with an alarm output...i.e.(siren) it's compatible.

Hey cool they finally released that

It mentions 2-way voice by a remote phone so I'd think it should, you should
contact the manufacturer
