Which high speed DAQ card?

J

jules

Hi,
Does anyone have a suggestion for a 20MS/s or faster data
acquisition card? I need at least 11 or 12 effective number
of bits (ENOB).

I've located cards such as the GAGE Compuscope, which has
50MS/s, but an ENOB of only 10.2. We are currently using the
NI PCI-6111E which is very nice but only a 5 MS/s card.

Thanks,
Jules

Jules:

Check out the digital oscilloscopes that are available from
companies such as Hewlett-Packard and LeCroy.

A standalone DSO may have the data buffer that you require.

We have a restriction in that we need to continuously
process and store the data while capturing it. Eventually we will
hit the PCI bus transfer speed limit, and probably need to go
to a DAQ+DSP board combination.

In that case you may want to check out a DSP (digital signal processing)
board instead.

Try www.dalanco.com, and see if they have anything that would suit you.
Note that I have never bought any of their products, and cannot say anything
about them.

If they don't have something suitable for you, they might be able to
recommend
another company that does.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll check them out.
I've also found another company called "Strategic Test" which has some
high-speed cards, they look quite reasonable.
