Where to buy plain old pots?

W

Warren

... and I don't mean Plain Old Telephones.

Does nobody hardly use panel mounted 1/4 inch shaft pots with
solder lugs anymore? Sheesh.

I need to acquire a 50k linear pot and DigiKey wants $17, while
Mouser doesn't seem to have any solder lug pots. I don't want to
hack to a PCB wire, if I can help it.

I haven't looked at Antique Radio Supply and other places yet.
50k is not the usual value for the guitar market either. I'm
just kind of aghast at how difficult it seems to be to get a
regular plain old pot these days.

It must be a well kept secret.

Check the Shack, Jack! er, ah, Warren...

They show a 6 mm shaft, maybe just a tad small for a knob expecting a
1/4" shaft -- but certainly easier to bulk up than to grind down.

UPDATE: Hold the Phone folks!

I must have been experiencing brain farts yesterday. I think I
was browsing the wrong potentiometer sections. When I went
back to look last night, they were there as I originally
expected.

My bad. My very bad.

I only use Radio Trash/The Source in an emergency. When I
bought 1/4 jacks last time, the nuts wouldn't even stay on the
threads.
Mouser 31CX series ... terminals are both PCB pin AND a
newfangled solder lug (note the little cutout on each pin
to hook a wire to).

Jim

Yes, I like the newfangled solder lug types. :)
