From the case design, it is obviously a very old transistor. The way
W-E worked, it may have been the only transistor in use at the time, or
the color of the text may have told them which part it was. Some early
KTU cards had unmarked transistors, and were all used in similar
circuits, so it was likely they designed to use THE transistor.

Thanks Mike. I've seen KTU cards, and they have weird transistors but
they're silicon. The KTU cards that I have laying around use a
transistor that looks like it's an oversize TO-92 case. This gold one
is germanium. If I can find a pic of one, I'll post it to ABSE also.

Not me. I scrapped about 20 of them in the last couple years. I still
have a pile of KTU cards, power supplies, and a couple interrupters.
Anyone want some touch-tone pads or telephone networks? How about 25
pair telephone cord wit the 50 pin blue ribbon connectors? ;-)
