Hopefully someone can shed some light on what this electronic componet is. It is from a Planer
thickenesser power tool and has burnt out. Any information appreciated.

Looks like a mains voltage line filter
A bit larger photo would have allowed to read what was written on it

Hi, thank you for your reply. Have reposted a larger pic. What would this actually do regarding a power tool? Can it simply be left out.
I live in an isolated part of Fiji, with no where I can get any info or parts. Really appreciate your help.

Yes, line filter.
Stops all the radio frequency noisy blasting the neighbourhood.
Planer should work fine without it but you may get neighbours complaining their tv is going beserk every time you switch the planner on.
