I have a Weller Magnastat station (PU-2D, I think, with TCP 24V).When I turn it on it heats up normally and if I do a 4-point test on the "pen" as I've seen on another model's tech sheet, it seems to pass. Yet, after the iron has been on for a while (maybe an hour or two?), it stops clicking and simply cools down. The power stays on and shows AC voltage (actually some volts larger because of no load). Try it again the next day and it works for awhile again.
Have any of your guys seen this sort of failure before?
Do you know which component is not working? I'm thinking it's the thermostat/switch, but I don't know.
So, how sure are you, because I'd rather not replace working parts? (And Wellers are great but expensive - parts too.)
