Wagner Steam Cleaner Handle Overheating

So was wondering if anyone had any idea or solutions for this problem.

Most Home Steamer Fix it guides point to either Calcium build up or a blown fuse as the possible problems that can occur and how to fix it. However I have been unable to find anything that refers to the handle overheating and any possible solutions.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem ??

I don't see how you can prevent the handle getting hot, since you are passing steam through it. However, a layer of heat insulating material wrapped around the handle will reduce the heat reaching your hand.

I should Clarify.

You are right that the handle does get hot from passing Steam thru it. But this is scalding heat, not warm heat, almost as if somehow the handle has lost its ability to insulate. I have wrapped the handle with insulating material but if the current overheating is a indication of a bigger or unseen problem, would like to figure it out.

Does the steamer have a thermal cut-out? It should if it's for use in the EU.

The 2nd review on Amazon about 'A' wagner steamer says-
"The handle got hot after using it for a short time. It was not uncomfortably hot, but close to it."

Hot to some may be warm to others. Do you perhaps have a thermometer to measure the handle temperature?.
I have seen these units with melted plastics.
If you are genuinely concerned, I'd advise to stop using it.

Does the steamer have a pressure-release valve? A blocked valve could result in the steam becoming super-heated.

I'm in the U.S, NY.

Looking through the manual to see if they have any references to thermal cut out.

Thanks for the Reply Martin.

Unfortunately my thermometer broke a few weeks ago. Still need to order a new one. You have given me a reason to stop waiting.

A problem that seems to come up when reading reviews of this steamer is that the handle can loosen allowing Steam to escape that may be my problem. Will try tightening handle to see if it solves the problems I've been having. Below is the Review that list the problem.

Opening up the Steamer and from my limited knowledge it looks like some of the installation from the steam hose melted off. I'm going to try pvc tape to repair it. Including photos. pardon the appearance of my dry hands.

Anybody with more installation knowledge care to chime in or any suggestions. ??
