volkswagen solar panels......

some time ago volkswagen automotive started to ship solar panels which
plug into 12v power sockets within vehicle......am told panels are there
to maintain 12v battery while vehicle is in transit from factory to
dealer..they are designed to attach to inside windshield via suction
cups on each corner......believe they are around 3 ma output.....any
ideas on what other things they could be used for? three or four hooked
up in series ?

looking for ideas for some uses.......

3 12v, 3ma in series would give you 36 volt, 3ma. It might be more useful to
hook them up in parallel, giving you 12 volt, 9ma, or .1 watt

30 of such panels would give you 1 watt

cheaper to buy a 10 watt panel for $50

it's really closer to 2 watts effective, but for a small panel, that's not a
bad price.
