ViewSonic LCD Monitor VS11826

Hi

The other day, my LCD monitor suddenly made a small bang and then went off.

After opening it, I found that a component is blown. The markings are no more available. It's a 6-lead component in TO-220 package perhaps a switching regulator or something.

I tried to google for the service manual for VS11826 but could not find one. Can anybody help me identifying the part or get me a link to the service manual. Some photos are attached for reference.

OK, the first thing to do is to determine the part number.

Can you read it off the body still? Your photos are not sharp enough for us to see (I'm not sure that I can tell it has 6 leads from those photos either).

If you can read it, and it's available, you might be able to replace it. However that's no guarantee that this was the cause (as opposed to a symptom) and that following this failure that nothing else was damaged.

But let's cross those bridges when we come to them. Can you read the part number?

The main body was torn and so it is not readable. That's why I was looking for the service manual. I will try to get better photos.

I'm not sure there's much we can do if we don't know what the part is.

If you can find a service manual, or another unit, etc. Then we may be able to find out what it is.

After thorough web searching, cross checking with other models of view sonic, I have some clue that it might be STR-W6765. But not 100% sure.

Can you make it sure after checking this data sheet?

The site has been selling the complete power supply board:

The board number is FSP028-2PI02. Googling this number reveals this power board is also used in Viewsonic's VA1716W model. I re-checked my model number, to my surprise the label showed 2 different model numbers. Anyway, I got the service manual for VA1716W-2 whereas, my model is VA1716W-4.

The pictures in the manual were same as my model but the schematics and the pcbs shown were different. I could not find any 6-pin IC in the schematics (page no. 63).
