video head replacement for Canon camcorder

I am trying to get a replacement for the video heads of a Canon
Camcorder model V50 Hi-8.

The Canon part number is Dy4 5617. I am trying to get a replacement
since the Canon one is quite expensive (half the price of the
camcorder).

Any idea where I could get one?

You're probably stuck with Sony as they tend to make such parts
proprietary.
There are one or two Sony repairmen in this forum who may be able to
point you to an alternate source though.

I'd recommend trying Herman electronic in Miami, I've had good luck
getting hard to find parts from them in the past.
