Unidentified Circuit

Hi. I am new to this forum and have very little experience with electronics. I found a mystry object washed up on the beach which appeared to be encased in resin, where it had worn awat on one corner what looked like electronic components could be seen (Resistors/diodes) with my curiosity arroused, I took it to a friend who has xray facility and got him to xray it, the xray shows a circuit board and components, it looks more scratch built than comercially made. would any members like to try and identify what it could be. I have photographs and the xray.

...Better yet, grind off the resin with a belt sander so we can see components.

Perhaps it's some kind of filter network?

Considering that units thin PCB tops and bottoms and the construction manner, along with the encapsulating medium.
It resembles an ULTRA high reliability (from a mechanical shock and environmental aspects ) ”cord wood “ module of aerospace and military electronics of the 60’s ‘til the 70’s. Our units had flat nickel wire woven around between needed connections on the tops and bottoms of the PCB and being spot welded to the component leads.

It was a reliability situation / solution, instead of using soldered connections, as your unit certainly appears to be doing.

The encapsulate was the two part Resin-Hardener like marine builders use. With time onset, it took on a slight amber appearance. If at sea, yours may have whitened . . .or "greened" if abraded and algae infested.

Maybe this that know can't say?

I doubt you can actually tell what it was from the photos, however there has been some perfectly reasonable suggestions as to the type of equipment it could have come from.

Think high reliability, high vibration environment, zero maintenance once deployed...
