please tell why/how a square pulse transmitted by an ultrasonic receiver is converted to sine wave at the receivers end..

The incoming amplitude of the reflected wave is distorted as the sensor will detect all of the ultrasonic wave that is input. The ping sent out is reflected at very slightly different time off of different materials, and may travel through areas of lower and higher density, leading to slower and faster travel times respectively. The distribution is concentrated on the median, leading to a bell shape or positive sine half like waveform.
