TSOP56 Flash which is being bit banged using PIO

1/ the TSOP56 is surface mounted
2/ i cannot find a TSOP test clip (Pomona, or otherwise)
3/ I dont have the pad space to install a socket
4/ suggestions so for are
- solder on magnet wire
- use micro-grabber (purchased, not arrived)

Q1: Is there a mechanical way... clip on, or over, sockets that has surface mount footprint to be able to probe any pin at any time

Q2: Im thinking about putting leads on a similar chip and mechanically pressing it on top of the existing chip ( with a big C-clamp) providing the rpessure

Q3: Is there another way, per chance,

A2: won't the "similar chip" interfere with the one you want to debug?
A3: remove the chip from the pcb, analyze it, the put it back on the pcb - it sure is another way, but this would be my last resort only.

Q1. Surface mount footprint to probe any pin at any time?.

A1. What about test points on the PCB?. No connector required.
