I am looking for this Motorola Transistor..

I drew an exact picture on the transistor..

Can someone help me please identify this transistor?

So I can find a replacement

I tried 2N7929 without much success
there is sure to be a prefix .... manufacturers often leave them off the package grrrr

what is the device out of ?
do you know for sure that it is faulty?

Motorola no longer exists.
(They''re now 'ON Semiconductor')
This may not help, but when I need to know On Semi full part numbers, I've gone
to the On Semiconductor website, and used their 'Contact' selection to send my
inquiry. So far, with ON Semi devices, they've replied to my request with the full
part number. Maybe they'd do it for old Motorola part numbers?

Without specs, or perhaps the schematic so we can see what is required, yes it can be hard.

It's a bit like having a bolt and looking for a replacement without knowing the size, thread type, length, material, etc.

edit: If the circuit os not very demanding of any particular parameter, then yes, you may be able to replace it with something that is not a direct replacement. Of course we don't know it's actually a PNP transistor (presumably you do)

I dont have a transistor analyzer.. I wish I had a DCA55 analyser

Depending on what your meter does, it may be a germanium transistor with about 0.25 drop across the junctions. The base is the middle pin. You can find which is the emitter and collector by measuring the gain either way round. The measurements you have made would indicate that it is OK.

What is the age of the equipment?

Well, it's difficult finding data on your transistor because it's a proprietary part number.
At least you now know that much.
