Thorn TV 20 ND5/a - how to get SCART input

M

Michael Marquart

Greetings,

We have here (in Australia) a Thorn TV model 20 ND5/a with Teletext and it
has RF in as well as SCART, but I can't enable the SCART / AV input.

The remote control has all markings rubbed off, but I can't find any key
that will switch it to AV in. The front pulldown panel has controls for
brightness etc and digital tuning but no switch for input select.

Can someone help me with information to get the SCART input working so my
disabled brother can watch movies from the DVD? There are options like
using the VCR tuner but he has difficulty with a remote control.

Thanks for reading.

Don't recognise the model number but on older Thorn sets (TX100) SCART
is not enabled unless set to Program 32. Not very convenient as it requires
3
key presses though a little board mod can change that to 8 or 9

First thing i would try is power everything off, connect the dvd
player up to the tv (scart to scart), power the TV on then the dvd
player. At that point, most dvd players send the 5v scart switching
signal to the Tv and it ought to flip to the AV channel.

If it is an older set this sometimes does not happen.

Another option would be to get a universal remote with an AV button. I
know mist universals don't operate more than the basic funtions but
most emable you to switch to AV.

If your TV has the scart socket there must be some way of getting to
it, unless someone disabled in in a service menu.
