The plumber that wanna be an electronic enginier

Hi, I am a plumber but when I finish high school, I always like electronics.
Anyways, I just bough an IPad, and I need to find a way to hide it in my van in a compartment that opens any way remotely or by a switch .
Can I use magnetics in this process?

there would be a few ways using electro magnets like solenoid latches etc
that you could look into
