Shortly after purchasing a Sony Viera plasma television there was a power outage after which the tv would not restart. I'll spare the details, but I discovered that the television will restart after sitting unplugged for up to 48 hours, sometimes less. Mind you, this occurs with any power interuption including unplugging the tv. I've found hundreds of complaints online from people with the same problem who say their tv's must "rest for a few days".
I'm not well versed in electronics, but it seems to me that the only reason for the time requirement is that a capacitor must have time to fully discharge. In some way that charge is preventing the television from starting by some mechanism.
I would love to get to the bottom of this.
