Sony discman not turning on

I have a problem my Sony Discman D-245 does not turn on even with the hold option disabled. Batteries are brand new.

Have you opened it up to take a look? It could be something as simple as a broken wire between the battery terminals and the main PCB. Or it could be a bad capacitor or voltage regulator.

It could be even simpler.
Just because you have new batteries doesn’t mean the contacts are good.
Check them for any corrosion from old leaky batteries.
