Sony Digital Camera Model FD 100 shutoff problem

Hi all I have a tech with the following problem -

In the shop is a Sony Digital Camera Model FD 100. It operates very well
most of the time. Its only known problem is that when it is turned on it
shuts off within three or four seconds. Once this behavior has begun it will
stay that way for a few days and then is back to operating correctly. I
suspect that a solid state latch is operating close to its threshhold but I
do not have a schematic to track it down.

If you are experienced and equipped to do troubleshooting in detail, you can
invest in the service manual. You will have to follow up the logic
operation. As for working on SMD boards, this will require some specialized
soldering equipment if you have to change anything at the chip level. The
service manual alone may cost more than the labour to have the factory
service do this for you.

At the factory service, when the problems get complex, they change the
complete defective board, and redo the factory set-ups. Considering the
labour cost, this is the most feasible way to service these.

Probably the batteries are those alcaline Duracell, then the same happens
with my camera (HP315). Try to put an external voltage in or use some NiCd
rechargeables to verify it is not the high inrush current(up to 1A) shutting
down the camera. NiMH do not work either in my camera.
