Sony 17" monitor: problem with signal cable replacement

My 7 years old Sony monitor (SFII series) is not working properly and
I believe the problem is the internal broker signal cable (the cable
connect monitor and computer). More specifically, the cable is a 14
pins (in 3 rows) male one side and other's side soldered (?) into the
CRT.

I have a 15' and a 17' dead monitor (not from Sony) and want to use
their cable as replacement cable. My question is: are these cables
interchangeable?

What do you mean by "not working right" ? Are you missing a color ?
Pins 1,2,3 on the 15 pin connector are the Red, Green, Blue video signal
lines. Measure the resistance from each pin to ground (shield) on the
connector. It should measure about 75 ohms. Each video line is terminated
with a 75 ohm resistor within the computer. If you get a very large resistance
reading, the line is probably broken (often near the connector where it
plugs into the computer). If you are handy, you can replace the connector.

Also, there is a GDM17SE2 and a CPD17SE2 Sony monitor. They are not the
same. Which do you have ?
