Slim Motor for electric Fan

Hi there,

I'm looking for a hobby dc motor, around 3v. The kind you find in those small electric fans. I want to build just this kind of fan with it! The thing is, I need it to be as slim as possible. By slim I mean the distance between the front, where the shaft is, and the opposing back side.

I know there are slimmer dc motors that look like this one (http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00HK85K9Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), but I can't find them anywhere (except for this one, but I am afraid this one might not be strong/fast enough) and have no idea whether they have a specific name.

Any product suggestions?

Your motor will depend on how fast you want it to be, and how large of a fan you will be using.
The more mass, and air the fan needs to move, the harder it will need to work.

Get an old 3 1/2 inch floppy drive and grab the motor from this. It's about 10mm from front to back (maybe less).

Note that the PCB it's on is part o f the motor, so you'll have a board that's around 6 x 6 cm or so as part of the motor.

I'm afraid that's too big a board. The max would be somewhere below 3cm diameter. Good idea though. Does anyone know how these motors are called?
I'm not sure of the mass the motor will have to move, but it will be almost identical to the one of those electric hand fans: http://img.hisupplier.com/var/userImages/2012-12/11/153828556526.jpg
They use those standard hobby motors with three volts. So what I need is a motor that can offer the same strength and speed at the same power, only in a slimmer (even if a bit wider) design.

Pancake motors.

Size and power are a tradeoff. You can probably find a strong one in the size you want, but it won't be cheap.
