Simpson Silencio 972 Dishwasher problems pumping out waste.

R

Renfred

Hi out dudes and dudesses. I have a seven year old that has for most
of its life had problems pumping out waste when in the draining cycle.
It often requires multiple starts before it will complete a whole
cycle, the pump is running but very little comes out, then it appears
to clear itself if you stop and start it a few times. I have stripped
the machine and checked the pump and outlet pipe etc. and the only
susplect item is a non return valve in the drain, but this appears to
be OK. Anyone struck this problem and found a cure? Any feedback
greatly appreciated. Cheers, Renfred. (Note : remove "x" from xrenfred

Remove (X) from xrenfred for correct email address...thanks.

If there always was trouble, check that there is air access around where the
drain hose goes into the drain 'upstand' pipe. Have you tried it without the
valve ?? not really needed.

If you suspect the anti siphon valve, temporarily remove it and see if
things improve. Process of elimination sometimes is the easiest way to
troubleshoot. Also, ensure that the drain hose isn't pinched in any
way. My washing machine drove me nuts for a while until I figured that
the spin cycle was vibrating the machine enough to cause it to travel
rearward against the wall just enough to pinch the hose. A small
wooden block ensures this no longer happens!

What brand washing machine? We can then avoid it. No excuse for this in a
modern machine.
