Simple Signal Transmitter

Hello All,

I would like to buy a transmitter, not an RC remote. Let me explain what I would like to do:

I would like to be able to attach it to an electric swith for example, so that when the switch is activated, the transmitter sends a signal to the reciever which activates a little LED on the reciever or something like that.
