Simple Adapter Amp question ... just to be safe.

I purchased a desk phone from US (I live in Ireland)
It comes with a US adapter output dc9v 500ma positive internal.

I have an Irish adapter output dc9v 750ma positive internal.

ONLY DIFFERENCE is the 500ma to 750ma.

I don't want to use the US-UK transformer (120v - 230v) because it's
bulky.

My understanding is that using the Irish adapter (as I've described)
is safe because the device will only draw down the 500ma it needs and
all else is the same .. volts / polarity.

Can someone confirm that this is not going to damage the phone?

Very likely illegal to connect that phone to the Irish phone network.

** Is that adaptor's DC output regulated?

Is it a SMPS type - ie very lightweight ?

Its the voltage that is important first but it should also be able to
supply at least a minimum current for the job.

What you've failed to address is that unless the output of the
supply is regulated, the output voltage will be higher than 9V when
the load current is less than the supply's rated output. The real
question then, becomes one of determining whether the phone can
stand the higher voltage output by the supply with the phone drawing
less than 750 mA.
