Short Range Locator

Hi,

I'm brand new to this so forgive me if there's an easy answer here.

My question: is there an easy short range (35ft) way to locate someone/something and follow its movement?

I.e. If I have a ball throwing machine, is there a way to have it target me even if I'm moving around in front of it?

Welcome to EP.
There are several ways to do this, but none would be easy or particularly cheap.
E.g.
1) A matrix of pressure-sensitive pads/switches.
2) Scanned optical beams.
3) A grid of optical beams.
4) Scanning radar.
5) A camera and image-recognition software (arguably the simplest/cheapest option).
