Server unstable? (2015-02-18)

As of this week I receive quite a few thtp: 404s and "server not available" errors. Do we have a problem with the server or is the server being attacked?

Thanks for letting me know Harald,

I've been having some server instability problems today, the recovery scripts have kicked in several times this morning due to a crash - I'm logged in now trying to find the problem, but it's proving difficult. I've stripped back the background tasks that I think are causing it to see if that helps.

Were these errors appearing more than usual before today, if so I need to widen my search .

I think I started to see these issues from Monday on - I'm not so sure about the weekend as I haven't been too active then

Thanks Harald, I'll go back over the logs and see what is happening. I've made a change this morning which I think has fixed it, fingers crossed!

I just got a "not found" error when I clicked new posts... Screen shot attached.

I reloaded the page and it went away.. Other than that, every thing has been going smooth on my end.

Thanks @Supercap2F - I think I've narrowed the problem down to a particular script, but unfortunately it's one that needs to run (a one off, but may last a week!). I thought it was now under control as I slowed the execution of it down substantially, but I'll set up some additional logging on EP to see why the error happens ("not found" is particularly unusual when the URL exists, so it must be to do with our IIS service).
