My "new" used boat has got some Autohelm ST50 instruments, but unfortunately
the Log is not (it's an old Silva 2200). Consequently the wind instrument
can not show true wind.
Is the seatalk suffciently compatable so that I can just add a Raymarine
ST60+ LOG to feed the Autohelm ST50 wind instrument with seatalk data or
should I look for a pre-owned ST50 LOG similar to the existing instruments
(see http://www.maximalt.dk/autohelm.jpg) for it to run smoothly ? Have
Raymarine done any changes to the seatalk protokol that will complicate mix
of Autohelm ST50 and Raymarine ST60+ instruments ?
In the brochures it seems to work, but how about in reality ?
I've always been happy about Silva. Cheap and good. Is ST50/60 more or less
vunerable for weed and dirt in the sensor wheel ?
Thanks in advance
