SATA 600 HDD

Okay, this is computer discussion. Thats electronics right?:p Anyway, i have a quick question about some new SATA technology. SATA 600, if i had a SATA600 (S-ATA 6Gbps) hard drive and for what ever reason needed to use it on a SATA300 (S-ATA 3Gbps) motherboard. Would the HDD 'pretend' its like a SATA300? if not, please explain.

Cheers fellow electrical masterminds :D

That's a computer hardware question, not an electronics question.

I hope you're talking SSHD, not spinning metal.

No, it wouldn't. Currently drives designed for SATA 2 will work with SATA 1 systems by means of a jumper that limits the drive throughput (among other more technical things). So, If the SATA 3 drive had such a jumper to limit it's performance to SATA 1/2 levels it would work.
