interesting problem

dead BU 508a in the power supply,
dead shorted horizontal output transistor,
blown diode in powersupply that forms the bridge recifyer,
blown 6w wire wound resistor just after AC plug on main board at the
begining of the psu.
Blown main fuse.

replaced all of the above, and theres still a dead short, b+ goes to 115v
for a split second when turned on and dies to 0v.

any ideas ?

Its an old hos, thus why im trying to fix it at home. not interested in any
"take it in for service"comments.

your right.

It must of been a power surge.

off it goes to the tip.

thanks

Yep..off to the tip & claim a new one from your power supplier. If a few
people in one street have faults resulting from a suspected surge etc there
shouldn't be any dispute about them paying up. My two cents worth anyway.
