Safewatchpro2000 DIY WIreless Add On]

Ok, I've done a fair amount of lurking here and seen different answers
on similar questions.. I have a ADT Safewatch Pro 2000 alarm system
with three door sensors and a motion. One door is hardwired along with
the keypad and the other three sensors are wireless. The System is
about 5 yrs old now. To the best of my knowledge, I am no longer under
contract with ADT, but month to month. I'm not concerned with ADT
responding to any alerts from things I add on.

I have attached several pictures of unit for better identification.

There is also a sticker inside the box(type of upc code), that the
installer placed there. I assumed this was my specific indentifyer, so
I did not snap picture of it.

What I want to do is add either some more motion or window
sensors(wireless).

Specifically,
1. How many can/could I add with my current setup?
2. Can I do it myself?
3. what ademco model series of sensors is compatible with this unit?
4. Is there a easy way to tell whether or not the installer locked out
additional programming?
5. anything I else I may have forgotten, or did not know to ask, and
anything bads or goods about this system?

Please don't flame me. I have read enough here to see several folks
have a real problem with DIY'rs.

In the end I will probably buy the parts and hope that I can talk adt
into programming for me.

Sir, my understanding is that the ADT Safewatch 2000 system is proprietary
equipment....only ADT can program or monitor it. So be nice to them.....))

It's only proprietary as far as downloading is concerned. Otherwise, it can
be hand programmed like any standard panel. It is true that there are some
aspects in programming that can't be changed, but it still doesn't prevent
anyone else from monitoring it.

Ok, thanks for the clarification Jim. I have to go out in a couple of hours
to takeover an ADT Safewatch 2000 system, and my partner (who does takeover
Ademco equipment; I don't) told me that I had to change out the system.
If what you say is true, I can hand it back to my partner, or change it
out....whatever the client wishes....

Two ADT takeovers in one day....ain't life grand....))

to purchase them from you, and any others you run across in the future.

Jim, if I get any of these, I'll keep them and send them to you. Perhaps you
could pick up the shipping, but other than that, they're yours for the
asking. I'll get my partner to set them aside for you. I'll talk to the
other dealers I know around town and get them to keep their eyes open for
you as well.

PS: Just came back from that takeover; it's a DSC 1550, but no phone line
yet.
