S-Video (YC) Ground Loop Isolators

K

Ken Maltby

In running the audio out of my DirecTvio unit
I ended up putting in an audio ground loop isolator
and it improved the clarity of the audio quite a bit.
Since I also take S-Video thru the same path my
thinking is that it might be worth it to do the same
to the video. Any reduction in noise pays great
dividends when encoding. As it is now, the signal
appears very good, despite my running it thru 2ea
50' lengths of RG-6 coax and S-Video adapters
at each end.

I guess I could just treat it as two 75 ohm RF
cables and make an isolation choke for each.

Anyone know a good and not too expensive
Video ground loop isolation product or idea?

Luck;
Ken

S-Video is balanced so it shouldn't get ground loop noise from low
voltages. You're missing a wire if you're running it over two coax
cables. There's Chroma, Chroma return, Luminance, Luminance return, and
Ground. You might need to add your own jacks to get it right.
