RFID Antenna Design

I want to design a big (2mx2m) gate antenna that transponders can go
through it in all vertical and horizontal positions.

I read all the Texas Instruments documents but was not able to find a
good way to design what I need.

Is there anyone who has had an experience with such antenna designing
or who has an idea how to make it?

What is the targetted frequency ?

What is the targetted frequency ?

I'm guessing that it will be the low frequency stuff, 134kHz from memory for
TI products. The biggest problem with TI's gate antennas is the
uni-directional pattern, hence the longer distances. Go mor omni-directional
and you will loose distance.

I assume you mean 13.56MHz. We designed one a few years ago. It is
basicaly a large loop antenna made of ordinary copper tube. Get
yourself a good (ham radio) antenna book and a MFJ-259B antenna
analyzer. We got it working within a few days. BTW, you'll never get
it through any certification. It has way to much fieldstrength at
large distance (we measured some 20dB more then allowed accoording to
the ETSI regulations).

Three dimensional transponder orientation is always a problem with a
2-dimensional antenna.
