Morning,

No, there was no issue regarding your answers, i think, im trying a differant angle, maybe wasting my time,
i have a local repair company, who might be able to help, i honestly think its a valid question, can i swop out the docoder/encoder for a matching pair.
My next route is cloning the board, from a newbie you can imagine the sort of questions i will be asking .
i will probably learn some thing new. Dont fancy modular build as im not very software orientated.

can i swop out the docoder/encoder for a matching pair.
Depends.

The 'decoder' part will have some form of output that is used to physically/electrically enable 'whatever' OR it may be in software that allows the controlling program to run.

If it is a 'physical' signal then yes, you can bypass it. I suspect it will be a software issue though and unless you can reverse engineer that software you won't be able to bypass it.

You would need the full schematic of the board to make that determination.

Good news,

Manage to get in touch with the company who built the rover, they have offered replacements for the remote and a new controller at 78 usd, cant belive how cheap they are, obviously there will be a delivery/ import tax, but still think its cheap.

Thanks for all your help, hopefully speak soon when another project gets underway
