Replacing triple a batteries

Hi everyone! I am newish to wiring electronics. I have a set of wireless Turtle beaches that run on 2 triple a batteries. They devour batteries faster than i can charge them. I would like to power them with a standard USB cord but I have no idea how to safely do this. I really don't want to fry a $150 headset. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
P. S. I have some experience with electronic repairs but I don't really know much about circuits outside of splicing.

Be careful Martin, there might well be different models, some of which run off USB and others off batteries.

To the OP:

The correct way to do this is to use a 3V regulator between the 5V USB port and the headphones. It is a fairly simple circuit. Do you have any experience with building circuits on perfboard?

No I don't. I'm sure i could handle the project, though. I do repair my electronics and I've wired lights into my car so wiring isn't an issue. I just don't have knowledge about resistors and more technical things in circuits.

Good point Bob. My son's old pair did have two AAA's. His new ones (2 years) have 2 AAA's too. So I was blindly leading the blind as per usual!.
But both the headphones sets have been working without a problem ever since.
So I will say to the OP, follow Bob's advice and stick a 3 volt regulator in-line.
