replacing casio watch battery

I have casio watches aq-150w with cr-2016 battery. Watches
stopped after 5years so i bought a new one. Battery was
catched by a metal plate which i successfully removed,
replaced battery and installed metal plate again.

And there's a problem - watches dont go - no digits on led display,
no movement of hands. On the back plate was a message to connect
battery(+) with AC by tweekles on battery replacement. label AC
i found on metal case and is connected normally.

voltage of old battery was 1.6V, the new one has 3V. so this is OK.


Can anyone help me ?

Why did you replace a 1.5v battery with a 3v you may have killed your watch!

It's old battery so voltage is lower - batteries are same type CR2016,
same brand (Panasonic).

Make sure you give the battery a good firm 'clean ' with a suitable lint
free cloth. Sometimes the protective coating on the new battery will prevent
connection.

Make sure the battery is oriented the correct way and that the metal spring
battery contacts have enough pressure to make a good electrical connection.
Make sure they are not shorting at the edge of the battery and re-check to
make sure the battery is still good as if it was shorted it will now be
dead. Also make sure that the side body switches were not disturbed during
replacement and still work properly.

Also, don't rely on the watch display powering up before everything is
screwed back down. That caught me once. I put in new battery, held it
down and no display action. After doing all the above, still no display.

Then I screwed the back on, and everything is hunky-dory.

Many Casio watches do have a tiny hole or a contact labeled "AC".
Following battery replacement, you have to use either tweezers or a
paper clip, short wire, etc. to touch together the AC connection and
battery (+) for a few seconds, which "jump starts" the watch. Have
recently had to do this with Casio Databank and Illuminator watches. As
mentioned earlier, you also have to be careful that any pushbuttons are
pushed to their "out" positions before setting the watch innards back in
the case.

thanks. maybe invisible coating, maybe bad contact - after little
playing with contacts and battery back i saw on display digits and
watches go again !!!

A CR-2016 is a 3v Lithium cell: a dead one is normal to measure 1.5v.
