Replacing a broken touchscreen

Okay, so I've decided to handle a little project of mine:

Adding a bigger touchscreen to my tablet.
In doing this... I manhandled it a bit too much and cracked the previous screen... woops.

Anyway, I don't know much about replacing tablet screens and came here for advice.
I'm trying to find a bigger, replacement touchscreen for my now-broken tablet and do not know which to use.

I have found a screen on ebay which has 40 pins, and my current tablet screen connector uses 40pins. Would this work or.. am I looking at this too simply?

Here are some pictures.

you need to look at the datasheets and make sure that the pinout of the 40 pins is the same, also you need to make sure that the larger one doesnt draw more power than the old one (at least not much more anyways)

It's far worse than that Jim....
It's almost totally unlikely that the new screen will in any way be software compatible. If you've ever tried swapping displays on a system you've designed yourself with full control of the driver software and even with the datasheets it's still a major challenge, I've done it three times in the last year! You'd best just try to find out what you broke and try to get a direct replacement I'm afraid.
