Repairing my CRT's severed power cord

Hi there, brand new to the forum.

I'm looking to repair my CRT's power cord. I have seen videos on how to do this, and have some soldering skill.

The cord is not removable from the TV itself.

My plan is to amputate the chewed up part and splice the ends together.

I just want to know if I have to take extra electrical safety precautions? I know CRTs can hold a charge long after they've been unplugged.

FWIW, this one's been unplugged for a couple months now.

Any wise words appreciated! Thanks!

Really meaning ?

I'm looking to repair my CRT design of televisions power cord.

Not to worrry . . . . the HIGH voltage is at the heavy insulated red wire going into the side of the CRT.

On the AC cord just do a staggered splice and the neatest covering is then to use heat conformal shrink tubing,
for a final covering .

(Will come back later with an illustration of my procedure . . . .when I have more time.)
