Repair of a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SB 19" Monitor

I have been very pleased with the performance of this monitor which
has now developed a fault. The screen regularly collapses to a central
horizontal white line and on occasion can be temporarily resolved by a
sharp blow to the outer casing. Obviously this is not recommended, but
suggests that the fault is not major and could be as simple as a dry
joint. I am loathe to dispose of this excellent monitor, even though
it is of the CRT type and no longer in favour with the masses. I would
appreciate any feedback/advice as to the cost effectiveness of a
repair and an indication as to what the fault might. This info would
be useful should I be able to source an engineer locally who is
prepared to take on the repair.

The horizontal white line indicates the loss of vertical sweep to the
deflection coils. The sharp blow fix suggests a bad connection or a bad
solder joint. One who knows some basic safety rules can narrow this down by
flexing and poking and wiggling.
