Registry problem with Capture Lite

K

Kim Östman

Hello,

There is a problem when using the Pspice student version with a user account
in the Users-group.

The Schematics editor and Capture start okay, but when running simulations
for the first time, it reports an error writing into the registry and
suggests using "regedit". The trouble is that it doesn't say what to do with
it. I've heard that this trouble can be solved by giving user privileges to
some files/folders.

The exact error-message is:

Pspice\9.20
Failed to update the system registry
Please try using REGEDIT
[OK]

I think there is an article in Sourcelink concerning this, but I could not
access it:

Sourcelink article:
1. Registry errors when logged on to account with "User" priveleges (Add
to My Library) 85%
Modified Document Type Release Product
2002-03-28 Solutions PSpice

Can anybody help with this problem? Thanks!

Kim

hi:

aside from calling tech support and hoping someone can give you the
registry entrys... which would need to be done as admin anyway...

you didn't mention your OS, but users can't install apps. admin can. if
you install as admin, you can drop the program shortcuts in the "all
users" directory.

that's in documents and settings\Administrator[alt user name]\Start Menu
\... you'll figure it out.

or you can put it in any individual user's dir. this always worked for
installing my apps on enterprise machines. all the registry entries
*should* get written to "local machine" registry rather than "user"
which is where personal settings would end up.

hope this helps,
mike
