Reduce amperage without reducing voltage. Diodes? [Noob]

Hello, i have to ask something quite important to me. Okey here i have a (11 Volts Motor), that will draw about (4.27 to 15.83 Amps). And i have an ESC/ circuit board that can only capable handling anything below (8 Amps). There is method that might can help me out,by placing Diodes and ensure its not go over (8 Amps). Do you think it will work? or is there any better ways? Advance Thanks

Yes, get an ESC that can handle AT LEAST the maximum motor current.

..... or run the motor from a 6V supply for safety (although that's not what you want).
