Hi:

I have plans to move out of southern california to either southern
utah or northern california.

I'd like to try to get the house in the new area, as much off the grid
as possible. Can anyone recommend some books on this subject so I can
be more enlighten on the subject when the time comes to hire a solar
contractor (I'd like to have an intelligent conversation with the
contractor so I will know I'm not getting ripped off)?

Thanks

You may find the PV FAQ of some use, specifically Questions 96
and 96B.
96) Where can I get more information about PV?
96B) Are there any good books about PV?

The books referenced there are a few years old, so you may
find it useful to use Google Group Searches with suitable terms.

Two books:

"Energy from Nature" from The Rainbow Power Co. Good basic book.

<www.rpc.com.au>

"Staring at the Sun"

This is my book on CD. Contains spreadsheets for system sizing (Mac &
PC). Many charts and diagrams plus an extensive glossary. This is a PDF
document.

I had already looked at the books at:

However they are all old, and probably outdated and I was unable to
find updated versions. I'd like some newer books.

Thanks
