Re-programing eeproms

How would one go about re-programming the eeprom in your car's computer because you replaced the engine with a different one....there are a bunch of serial or identification numbers that are pre-programmed.....if you change something out, the security system will know that something has been replaced and does not match it's pre-programmed info......hence the vehicle won't run.....any ideas of where I can get some info on this???we just want to get the car running....any help greatly appreciated.....

Well, if you only replaced the engine then you don't need to mess with the computer. If you replaced the computer then it really depends on the vehicle. I do this type of work quite often. Some are easier then others but it really depends on the year/model.
