RCA CTC-185 woke up to symptom of excess screen voltage ?? help plz

all was fine when i went to bed , left tv on woke up with the symptom
looking like the screen voltage has been cranked up wide open , i have good
color , pictures there but i got semi-diagonal lines with faded horizontal
lines behind them ... i would say it has to be a filter ,but since i do
audio and not tv's much i really am not sure although i did eeprom this baby
3 years ago when i got it ....... been a good one so far .... thanks for
any input guys

The most common cause of that failure on a ctc185 I have seen is some kid
tried to plug in a video game rca plug into the screen and focus control
holes on the back of the tv set and wound up moving both controls. They are
the same size as rca jacks.

You need to measure the crt voltages in order to determine where to go.

WARNING, that chassis MUST be plugged into an isolation transformer whenever
working on it. Any earth ground to chassis ground can result in making the
tv beyond cost effective repair. Plus the big safety issue for your health.
